If politics succumbs to economics and economics is ruled by money, we arrive at plutocracy. In the extreme case, the suppression of civic liberties to enforce the rule of law by an authoritarian state is best described as fascism, as in the case of the well-documented support of Pinochet by Hayek and Friedman.
