Das Ende dieser Reportage über den Rauch kanadischer Waldbrände in US-Städten ist aufschlussreich (Wildfire Smokes Makes Air Hazardous for Millions in Midwest and East Coast – The New York Times): Republikanische Kongressabgeordnete werfen Kanada vor, nicht genug gegen die Waldbrände zu tun. Mark Carney antwortet, dass die USA sich am Kampf gegen den Klimawandel beteiligen müssen.
Der Brief der Abgeordneten ist typisch dafür, wie die Rechte die fortschreitende Klimakatastrophe ausnutzt: Nicht die Emissionen sind das Problem, sondern zuwenig Schutzmaßnahmen, für die die „Systemparteien“ verantwortlich sind. In Europa geht es dabei bisher meist um Klimaanlagen. In Spanien haben rechte Politiker der Zentralregierung Versagen bei Überschwemmungen vorgeworfen.
Diese Argumentation nutzt aus, dass zentristische und soft-linke Regierungen die globale Erhitzung nicht als Notstand behandeln und selbst keine Kommunikatiosstrategie haben, die der Krise angemessen ist. Sie laufen ins offene Blame-Game-Messer und müssen ihr Zögern bei der Klimaanpassung rechtfertigen.
@Heinz Ein ehemaliger Kollege aus Spanien, der sehr nah am Flutkatatstrophengebiet lebt, berichtete hingegen, daß dort viele Rechts-Wählende enttäuscht waren, weil genau diese Regierungen gar keine Hilfe schickten.
Sie tun was sie schon immer tun: nicht helfen und Andere blamen.

@regineheidorn Danke! Ich weiß leider nicht viel über Spanien. Mein oberflächlicher Eindruck ist, dass die Extremereignisse den Rechten nicht schaden – so schwer begreiflich das ist.
@Heinz @regineheidorn Das scheint fast überall so zu sein: Frankreich, Deutschland, bei uns – nirgendwo verlieren jene, die den Klimawandel leugnen bzw verursachen, an Zustimmung. Man kann nur zwischen Verwunderung und Verzweiflung wählen.
