Ein Beispiel für konsequente Antiklimapropaganda durch einen wirtschaftlich interessierten Multimillionär: Helmut Marko im durch keine kritische Frage unterbrochenen Interview der Kleinen Zeitung (Marko, 2025). Marko, mitverantwortlich für die CO2-Schleuder Spielberg, fordert mehr Autos in der Stadt, mehr Flüge und mehr Kongresstourismus, bei dem „die Frauen … mit Einkaufssackerln“ ins Hotel zurückkommen. Da ist die Welt noch in Ordnung. So wie bei seinem Hotel, dass er von einem „Türken“ übernommen hat, „ohne Fließwasser in den Zimmern“.
Marko wird in Graz und in der Steiermark von vielen verehrt wie ein Barockfürst, und wie ein Barockfürst darf er sich durch Kunstsponsoring selbst erhöhen (so dass ihm einige, die es besser wissen, ungern widersprechen). Die ÖVP wird Marko – daran habe ich wenig Zweifel – im Grazer Wahlkampf als Kronzeugen bemühen. Alle, denen die Zukunft der Stadt – darunter eine ökologisch nachhaltige Wirtschaft – wichtig ist, müssten sich von diesen Brutalo-Fossilpositionen distanzieren. Ihre Unvereinbarkeit mit den Klimazielen von Stadt-, Landes- und Bundesregierung lässt sich nur mit Absicht übersehen.

In der E-Paper-Version des Interviews kommen weder die Autos, noch die Flugzeuge oder der Türke vor.
